The Nullarbor is the biggest treeless plain in the world and standing there alone on a cliff waiting for the stars to appear feels different than in Germany, because inbetween 500km East and 700km West there is nothing except some roadhouses. What you see above is called a star vortex. The technique behind this effect is constantly zooming into the szene during a long exposure. I did the zoom in post and added a image for the foreground that I made after the starshots in the moonlight.
