Christmas in Europe starts in November.
While you might think that all Christmas markets would be open during Christmas, quite often the opposite is true.
Some markets might only be open for a few days; in late November. Others, including ones like Bratislava, tend to wind down for Christmas Eve – so that people can get home to their families, or dress up for church.
Along the river in Ljubljana (Slovenia) the Christmas market is still in full flow into the new year.
