Description:

A view of Utah's Alhambra Rock from its northeast flank just after sunrise. It is located just southwest of the town of Mexican Hat, which borders the San Juan River. From this perspective it resembles a lone fortress in the vast landscape. The name Alhambra is spanish for The Red One. Some also believe it was named after a fortress in Spain because of its fortress-like appearance. This area is part of the Navajo Indian Reservation.
