Sometimes the cloud formations over the islands of the river Clyde on the Scottish west coast at dusk are quite extraordinary . Here the dark volcanic peaks of the island of Arran , known as The Sleeping Warrior, are cradled in low lying clouds and the sky is lit up by the rays of the setting summer sun. The Cumbraes are in the foreground and the south end of the island of Bute can just be seen immediately to the west of Greater Cumbrae.
