With the 4th February having been World Cancer Day and the CANSA Shavathon coming up at the end of February in South Africa, I would like to challenge the community to share and make available images which:
- showcase the glowing beauty of every individual
- disprove the notion that women who have lost their hair have lost their beauty
- celebrate life
- stand in solidarity with, and celebrate those who are battling to conquer cancer and / or are cancer survivors.
We are looking for uplifting and inspiring images to generate messages of hope and awareness.
On a personal note, as both my parents have been affected by cancer, I shall be shaving my hair on the 28th February, donating the ponytail for a real-hair wig to be made for a chemo patient, and proudly sporting a number 1 thereafter.
I have also joined forces with another photo studio to take portraits at one of the Shavathon events on the 28th in order to raise funds for CANSA 2photographers.givengain.org .
As photographers we tell stories and share messages with the images we create. This is our gift and our responsibility. ... let's join forces to tell a story of beauty and hope and inspiration that spans the globe!
due to logistical issues our side, the image is no longer required. But some excellent shots were submitted which fitted the brief, which I have nominated as sign of appreciation to participating photographers
