Jenna O’Connell

Creative Statement

Artist Statement:

Jenna O is a Bethlehem, Pennsylvania based artist who specializes in freaking others out with the sheer amount of texting she does, the word count in those texts, and the ideas contained therein.

She also has a passion for mixing "high" and "low" conceptual values of culture, art, and the written American English vernacular into her art, photos, Tweets, musings, and sometimes incoherent rambles from the darkness of her bedroom.

A sufferer of, but not beholden to, more than one co-morbidity and chronic physical health diagnosis leaves her stranded on "pain island" for months at a time, though as of this writing she is still digging herself out from a year long case of "the messies" and attempting to reassert her dignity, identity, individuality, as well as figure out how to navigate the online social sphere and how to deal with Trolls should she ever encounter one.

Her local art "career" involving a monthly First Friday showing of her work with other artists in her community was put on pause because of a rise of the "2020 awfuls" and she awaits the impending apocalypse with a mix of aplomb, pluck, and the quote "and today is the day I decided to stop drinking."
