Mauricio has been playing with cameras since he was 16. His adolescence , which spilled into his twenties , is cataloged on Digital8 tapes, miniDV, and VHS. After many years of working with video he began experimenting with telling a story through single still images. He has always preferred composition and content over quality of image, though he is currently using a camera with many pixels and expensive lenses. Besides teaching food & self-health stuff to teens, he works with youth to empower them to capture their stories, dreams and even nightmares through video and photography. He is an improvisational dancer and musician. His video work, also improvisational, is sudden, unplanned, and quickly edited. He applies this method to his photography and considers light to be the artist where he is just the technician. He prioritizes listening and is excited by accidents.
