Creative Statement

My name is Perla Jazmine and I am an experienced photographer with a demonstrated history of working in the arts and crafts industry. Skilled in event photography, photojournalism, nature/wildlife and landscape. I began studying photography at Iowa Central community college in Fort Dodge,IA where I ran competitively for two years as a long distance runner for cross country and track. I then transferred to a four year school based in Omaha, NE where I continued my running career and obtained my Bachelors Degree in General Studies concentration In Art and minor in Gerontology.

After college, I photographed for cultural events such as the Cinco de Mayo In Omaha (2015) . Where I photographed the cultural parades, concerts, pageants and carnival as well as managing the company's social media channels. This included Facebook and Instagram by keeping the audience updated with the Cinco de Mayo events and schedules.

In 2016 I moved to Oahu, HI and got the opportunity to photograph multiple events such as the JCCH New Years festival and the Annual Pan-Pacific festival. I was able to grow as a photographer while exploring the beauty and diversity of Hawaii.

In 2018-2019, I moved to Beijing, China where I taught ESL kindergarten and continued my journey as an Independent photographer capturing breathtaking photos of China through my lens.
